Team Meeting 2
Countdown to festival screening: 18 days
3-19-13 We met again today and discussed the direction we are planning to take on reaching our audience, as noted in the previous post. The goal for the next week is to create our own post card handouts for the film and to reach out and invite women's studies students and other women's organizations to attend the screenings.

Contacting the Filmmaker
After the second attempt to reach filmmaker Debbie Lum she contacted us on Saturday. Basically, the information gathered is that in past screenings of the film the audience was primarily women and Asians. She suggested we focus primarily on grabbing the attention of women for our audience and she thought our idea of reaching out to the speed dating crowd is great. She told us about the film's companion website that has webisodes and such we could market as well. PBS will be advertising for the film on their website too, so she suggested we try and contact them for help in marketing. Last but not least, Debbie sent promo cards to Jennifer at the festival that we can pick up.

Sandy travels across the world to start a new life with Steve, but can she cure his yellow fever?
Film Synopsis
Seeking Asian Female is a personal documentary following the
love story of Steven and Sandy. Steven, a white man in his early 60’s, has
spent 10 years searching for his Asian wife and finally finds a match, 30 year
old Sandy, on an online dating website. From here, we see the ups and downs of
their relationship as the couple struggles through the language barrier and the
obvious differences in cultural values. Documentarian Debbie Lum acts as the
mediator in the relationship and helps the couple through their first encounter
and eventually their marriage. The question is: will the relationship survive
once Debbie’s help in translations is no longer a part of their daily lives?
Team Meeting
3/13/13 - We met today to discuss the blog and our approach to marketing Seeking Asian Female. It was more of a Recap of our initial conversation after watching the film.
Getting in Touch!
3/13/13 - Friday, March 8, 2013 marked the beginning of our relationship with documentary filmmaker, Debbie Lum. We sent her an e-mail introducing ourselves and offering our services.
Still yet to receive a response, we've assumed our first attempt at communication flagged and lost somewhere in the spam abyss. Keep the faith, Street team Awesome. If by Thursday we have not heard from Lum, we shall take further action.
